Good News!

Keith Taylor, sports producer at ABC 33/40 sent an email stating, "I'm currently putting together tomorrow night's Friday Night Blitz show, and would love to make your band our "Blitz Band of the Week." "

How GREAT you guys! So set your VCR's or TiVo or whatever for ABC 33/40 at 10:30, so that you can see the show. You know we will probably still be on a bus somewhere. They are using clips from the Pell City vs Dega game.

Congrats everyone!

Friday at Moody.. & stufff.

hey guyys.
friday night was very successful.
i think we all did a fantastic job and the show was overall alot better than before.
which is what will happen each and everytime we perform it; it will get better!

this week, we have rehearsal on monday, tuesday, and thursday but the times have changed from 3:30-5:30 to 3:30-5:00.
please dont forget to tell your parents!!

also, dont forget that your tailgate party tickets are do THIS tuesday.
make sure you have sold all that is required.

this weeks game is against sylacauga.. where we will also have the tailgate party.
our second home game, and im sure it will be just as fun as the rest.
i am really looking forward to getting the rest of the show on the field.
this show is going to be truly amazing once its all out there and we're performing at our most.
i really am excited!

dont forget we have a mini-camp this saturday at the stadium from 9:00-1:00.
PLEASE take my advice when i say DON'T STAY OUT TOO LATE FRIDAY NIGHT AFTER THE GAME!
please go home and get some rest. trust me. you dont want to come to the rehearsal exhausted.
also, PLEASE eat breakfast before you come.
that is for EVERYONE.

i know i told you all that we would have a sectional thursday, but i failed to follow through with that.
we really do need to have a sectional this week, especially with the freshman being in another class and the only time we all get to play together is at practice.
i will try my best to remember to talk to mr. mcdaniel tomorrow and find out what day is good.

we also need to get together and discuss and work on our ideas for the costumes for the Halloween game against Southside.
i have mentioned this several times and had no feedback. if i dont hear from anyone, then i will decide on my own and im sure someone will not like that so i need to hear from each of you.

dont forget all your reminders and i will see you all tomorrow!

Post-Game Hang out...

Friday nights game was a huge success.
I think the band as a whole did a FANTASTIC job.
I was very proud of my trumpet section, though.
Thank you for making my, as well as Elizabeth's and Norian's, last-FIRST ball game such an amazing experience.
I was extremely pleased.
=]

I'm sorry that I was so late on letting you guys know about the plans on the post game hang out.
I was quite angry with myself when everyone couldn't come. But, to those of you who did make it, thank you. It was a rather.... should I say, entertaining... experience. =]

To those who could not make it due to my last minuteness, I once again apologize, and want you to know that we will try to plan something very soon that everyone can make it to.

One thing that I do KNOW that we will have to get together on soon is working on our costumes for the Halloween game against Southside.
I believe this will not only be a fun experience but it will also allow us all to spend quality time together just hanging out as well as doing productive band work.
But we will figure that out in due time.

This week's game is away at Moody.
For a few select of you, this will be your first away game.
This game will be no different than last weeks game other than..we'll be somewhere else!
So don't fret over it, because I promise you, it will be just as fun and as exciting as the last.
I'm very excited about the first away game, myself.
=]

No school tomorrow!
But be prepared to get back to work on Tuesday.
After all, we never stop working.
But we do have fun in the process, so its all good.
=]

I would like to let you guys know that I will be checking flip folders this week.
Also, if it is all okay with Mr. McDaniel, we will be having a sectional on Thursday after practice.
Nothing too big, just make sure you're prepared.
I'll let you know more on Tuesday.

Don't forget that you're fundraiser stuff is due Tuesday!!!

I hope you guys have a good, long, weekend and I'll see you all on Tuesday!

WOO HOO! IT's Football SEASON!!!!

IT IS HERE... the minute you have all been waiting for!!! Our first FOOTBALL GAME of the 2008 season. All of your hard work and preparation is going to pay off on Friday night as the Talladega Tigers open the season against Smith Station at our very own Mary Dumas Stadium. How exciting to put everything together and finally have a chance to present it to a home audience.
A few reminders....

  • When you leave school on Friday ... Take your instrument with you!! Do not leave it at the school. (you laugh... it happens)

  • Uniforms will be in the ZEJH Bandroom. Because they are using Dixon while doing renovations on Graham we will have to make adjustments.

  • All band members will meet at Dixon for warm-up. Warm-up BEGINS at 5:30.... be early... do not get in the arc late.

  • Please remember that you will need BLACK SOCKS!

  • Don't forget your MUSIC for the STANDS! (flip folders everyone!)

  • Come prepared to have a GOOD TIME!

Trumpet Get-Together!

Heyy trumpets!

I recently talked to you all about coming up with ideas about our Trumpet Get-Together. I still have not had much feedback on that. I do have a few ideas, but not enough to decide what to do.

If everyone could please get together and think of some good ideas and let me know, we'll be able to get something organized.
Like I said, I have had some really good ideas come my way. You should all talk to each other about your ideas and vote and something. Because they are all VERY GOOD!

Don't froget about practice tomorrow, Thursday, August 14th, as well as the practices Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and the mini-camp on Friday.
We've only got a small amount of time left until the first game.

PRACTICE YOUR MUSIC!!

Oh, and don't forget, if you have anything you would like added to the blogg, just let me know and send it to me.
My email is anditwasallyellow_@hotmail.com.

I'll see you guys at school!

Thanks--
Jennifer

Marching Band!

It's 90 degrees outside, everyone is staying inside at all costs, and what do bands do? Get out there and march and play so that they can present an entertaining show for each and every football game and practice until its perfect enough to take it to competition.
Most of the time this entails standing in a position, responding to instructions as you move from position to position and somehow playing at the same time, then doing it over and over again until you have as perfect as possible.

Have you ever wondered how all of those little dots get on the paper, or how you are told where to go. Is it magic? Here is an interesting website that gives you a small and fun glimpse into the production side of the Marching Band Show process. Click here

Here you can watch shows that other people created, as well as create your own show. Its a fun way to try your hand at creating a marching band show and going wherever your imagination leads!
Enjoy!
